HENRY FORD COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEARNING RESOURCE
CENTER
Dearborn, Michigan
Square Feet: 125,100
The College’s previous two-story, concrete
structure Library was inadequate technologically
and functionally. The challenge was to update and
expand the size of the Library while still respecting
and fitting in with the existing Campus fabric.
The solution provides an expansion to the south,
toward the center of Campus and an expansion to
the north, toward the parking. The entire building
structure, new and old, is skinned with brick
and glass to relate compatibly to the existing
Campus.
This new project also incorporates and consolidates
all the student services functions. Since visitors
and new students will first arrive here, the entrance
is not only to this building, but also is a new
entry image for the entire Campus.
